Detroit Lions vs. LA Rams Recap
It's been 32 years since the Detroit Lions won a playoff game, and that was finally changed against their former franchise quarterback. Lions quarterback Jared Goff proved many people wrong and was able to lead this team to a 24-23 victory. Goff started the game off by throwing 10 straight completed passes, which led to a final stat line of 22 for 27 for 277 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown also played well, finishing with seven catches and 110 yards. Round of applause for Dan Campbell, who came up with a great game plan and a gutsy game-winning call. Throwing on second and nine under two minutes to Amon-Ra, who secured the first down. Detroit isn't out of the water yet, as they have three more games to prove the world wrong. Good things can come with time and patience, and Dan Campell has started to show what that has become. The lions will go on to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Rams came up short but put up a good fight. Matthew Stafford had an impressive game, throwing for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Targeting his new favorite receiver, Puka Nacua, who had nine catches for 181 and a touchdown. Puka finished with the most receiving yards in a playoff game by a rookie. Sean McVay was able to hold the Lions to only 3 points in the second half, which ultimately wasn't enough for them to win. McVay did have some questionable play calling. With under a minute left in the first half and three time outs, McVay decides to call plays to ultimately run the clock out and go into half being down 4 instead of taking the risk of getting more points. Another incident in the game was when McVay burned two timeouts before the beginning of the 4th quarter and only had one for the last 4 minutes of the game. When the Rams couldn't stop the Lion's offense, it ultimately came back to haunt them in the end. The offseason for the Rams looks bright, but their aging stars, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald and Matthew Stafford, could be the biggest factor in their success in the future.
